Bikram yoga

Bikram Yoga is also known as “hot yoga” or “fire yoga” because of the extreme temperature it is done at. The classes are help in rooms heated to approximately 105 degrees and given about 40% humidity. There are a few reasons for these conditions.

The heat and humidity are supposed to help the body to start sweating profusely, flushing out toxins. The heat also helps muscles to be more flexible, and is supposed to help prevent injury. There are 26 postures that are done in each Bikram Yoga session, which last about 90 minutes each. The postures are supposed to encourage strengthening of the body and improved breathing.

There is some conflict on how good Bikram Yoga is for you due to the high temperatures. Most beginners experience dizziness and nausea, and while they encourage resting when individuals are tired, there are still common cases of heatstroke and dehydration. People should use common sense and caution when beginning this type of exercise routine.
